Dear Members,
Greetings!!!
In light of the recent tragedy in Pahalgam, Kashmir, I want to express my deepest sympathies to all those affected by the attack. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and all those impacted by this saddening tragedy.
Coming to the activities of HCC, for the month of April 2025 as usual has been active and eventful for the Office Bearers, Expert Committees and Members of Chamber. We have dedicated Expert Committees and their untiring efforts ended up with fruitful events. Your participation in the Chamber programs is what encourages the organiser and my sincere thanks to all those who attended the events. We are in midst of summer, I urge all members of HCC to hydrate and protect themselves against heat waves.
In September 2024 when I took over the mantle of Presidentship, I had announced a 4-point agenda. I had the 5th focus area which was Women-Led Growth but did not announce as I had no plans in place then. And now I must say we have had two programs by the Women Empowerment Committee and the icing on the cake happened on 2nd April 2025, the Women Forum of our Chamber headed
by Dr. Geetha Premkumar and her team organized a grand event at Hotel Maris.
The Fireside Chat was on the theme BEYOND BUSINESS - THE HIDDEN CODES OF ENTREPRENEURIAL / PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS. The Fireside Chat was chaired by Dr. Gowri Ramachandran, Chairperson, Economic Affairs Committee, HCC and the speaker CA.Anupama Shivaraman, Director, Shriram Leadership Academy addressed on the topic "Financial Literacy for women". The second Fireside Chat on the topic Human Capital and its importance was chaired by Ms. Priya Sridhar, Member, HCC and the same was addressed by Dr. Rajini Sriraman, Head - HR & Administration, TVS SCS Global Freight Solutions Ltd. The third Fireside Chat was chaired by Ms. Jothi Thomas, Social Impact Entrepreneur and Ms. Aditi Mammen Gupta, Co-Founder, Origin Nutrition topic Wellness, Health & Nutrition for women. Ms. Latha Pandiarajan, Managing Trustee, Ma Foi Foundation was the Chief Guest and she delivered the Keynote address. We had more than 90 participants for this event and participants found it very interesting. I place on record my appreciation to the Chairperson, Fireside Chat Chairpersons and the speakers for playing a major role in making this event a grand success. My thanks also to the sponsors M/s Dynamic Group, Dr.Geetha Premkumar, Dr.Gowri Ramachandran and Mr.Shreyans Parakh whose support helped us meet the expenses.
On 5th April 2025, the Investments & Capital Markets Committee of our Chamber headed by Mr. Vignesh Nagappan and his team organized the INVESTMENT SATURDAY series, GLOBAL ECONOMIC OUTLOOK
at Chamber premises. Mr.Preet Pillai, Associate Director - Corporate Treasury Sales - HSBC Global Market addressed the audience. The participants gave a very good feedback for this event. I thank Mr. Vignesh Nagappan for organizing such useful events continuously for the benefit of our members and Investors community.
On 8th April 2025, I had the proud privilege of attending FICCI Foundation Day and had interacted with many business leaders.
As President, it's not always necessary to reinvent the wheel. Often its more effective to reflect on the past successes and revisit initiatives that were once impactful but have been overlooked over time. Last year, CA.P.Anand had mentioned about the Tax Convention, flagship program of HCC, which was an annual feature and attracted a lot interest from the Finance and Tax Community.
On 18th and 19th April 2025, the Direct and Indirect Tax Committee of our Chamber headed by CA.P. Anand and CA.B. Ganesh Prabhu with their Team organized a Joint Two Days Annual Tax Convention with The Chartered Accountants Study Circle at MMA Centre, Chennai. The event was inaugurated by Hon'ble Justice Sri C. Saravanan, Judge, Madras High Court. Eminent speakers addressed on very interesting topics and the participants gave a very good feedback. We had more than 110 participants for the event. This would not have been possible without the support of CA.P. Anand, CA.G. Srikanth, CA.Ganesh Prabhu B, CA.Shankara Narayanan V, CA.R. Sundararajan, CA.Uttamchand Jain and CA.V. Balaji. I must place on record my sincere thanks and appreciation to them for their untiring and unstinted support in making this event a grand one. I acknowledge the support of Tally, (Imatrix Technologies Pvt Ltd), Equitas Small Finance Bank Ltd, Microvista Technologies, Tax O nation and Lehry Instrumentation & Valves P Ltd for backing with sponsorship. A detailed write up is appearing in this Journal.
We are coming out with more such useful events by other Committees. I appeal to all our members to participate in the events and enhance your knowledge. We need to strengthen our Member base with more Corporates and Manufacturers. Special focus is also to add Women Entrepreneurs / Professionals as members. It would be a great gesture for members to introduce known Corporates, Manufacturers and StartUps to our Chamber.
Thanks and Regards
